The bright colours of the doily sitting on my sewing desk kept attracting me so I just had to make something out of it …

It’s so nice to repurpose the old embroideries.

There’s a few more sitting there too 🧵 🪡

My REAL hobby is “getting organised for doing my hobby”! Haha!
Basically I like getting all the little bits and pieces organised and neat and tidy READY for that ONE DAY when I make something!
I ordered a whole lot of pretty stickers from AliExpress … and then had to have something to put them in so I grabbed an address book I had purchased from a second hand shop, ripped out the pages and then used the index tabs to stick on some vellum. Covered the back and front with one of my printables I had made from Public Domain pictures (from Rawpixel.com).

I’ve had a lovely summer holiday. One of the highlights of my holiday was taking mum out for the day. A lovely breakfast at Mount Maunganui, followed by a walk around the shops, and then some opshopping. I found this cute little glass jar with lid for $4 and thought it would make the perfect peppermint jar and also the perfect opportunity to try out my new Cricut (birthday pressy from hubby).
I’m loving the result of the Cricut Vinyl. It’s not perfect ~ Trust me to do the most fiddly intricate small design and on glass as my first project. It’s not perfect but I love it!
My Cricut…
So, with the latest trend being kimono jackets, or bright coloured long jackets, I grabbed some beautiful Chinese brocade out of my stash of fabrics. It had been siting there for years. However, after laying it out on the floor I realised there wasn’t enough for a long jacket, and so I went back to my stash to see what else I had. And there they were….. gorgeous size 6 pants that I had bought at an opshop about three months ago just because I loved the fabric (which is stretchy incidentally). I absolutely LOVE the end result…
After making the jacket I decided to make a clutch purse out of the scraps. You will notice the little pocket taken off the jeans on the other side of the purse.
Oh wow! I love this! It turned out better than I could have imagined. Bought the $6 denim jacked from an opportunity shop with this in mind but didn’t know what fabric I would use. Settled on this white lacy look fabric and then ended up doing the free motion sewing around the cut out edges of the denim. It looks pink because the dress underneath is pink, but it is actually white. Can’t wait to wear it!
Some men’s shirts have the best fabric, and you can often pick them up cheap from second hand shops! You can make all sorts of things with them. I didnt have quite enough material with the one shirt so combined two shirts and I love the effect!

Let’s not waste time people! Bought these chairs on NZ’s Trademe website a week before Christmas. My very onto it husband painted them white (of course) and I made some cushion covers out of a second hand duvet. I will eventually get some decent weighted fabric but in the meantime couldn’t have them upstairs in red and white now could we!! But, main thing, they are SO comfortable…
