I decided to try something new, well for me anyway! Just choose random scraps from the scrap pile, one of them, and see what I can create. No pattern required.  I love it. It’s kind of like free motion sewing without the sewing machine, so it’s totally relaxing. I have been pinning these kind of things on Pinterest for a while so I was pleased to finally give it a go. Too easy. Happy.

Glorious holidays!  Books, gardening, resting, fishing … sewing!  It was great to start and finish a small mural style freemotion sewing project today …2nd January 2018!

Something a little different than I usually do.   Maybe I’ll start a new one for tomorrow.

So, I decided that my cross-stitch seems to lie around the lounge quite a lot, waiting for me to pick it up, and well, looks quite messy.  So thought I would see what I could come up with in terms of a bag or something.  I got a few ideas off Pinterest and then checked out my fabric stash and came up with this.  The external cover is a placemat I picked up a few years ago and which I particularly love with it’s denim Paris look. IMG_6788IMG_6791

Oh yes, the blue gingham fabric for the pockets, as you can probably work out, is made from a man’s shirt. The sleeve on the right is quite handy because you can open the buttons and put cotttons in.  I then made a separate bag with zip which sits nicely in the middle of the book for popping the actual cross-stitch in and the pattern book.  Winter Days!

So you know how I love doing the freemotion sewing, well, I have a Pinterest Board called “Gorgeous Shops” and I thought it would make a nice subject for a picture.  With this one, the fabric behind the windows is the same as my summer duvet cover so the colours match perfectly with my room.  It is pretty.

So yesterday, Thur 26 Jan 2017, mum gave me some old lace handkerchiefs for my free motion sewing.  I asked if she would like something made from them and she said that would be lovely and could I do a lady.  So I chose the prettiest three lace ones and made this, this morning.

Let’s not waste time people! Bought these chairs on NZ’s Trademe website a week before Christmas. My very onto it husband painted them white (of course) and I made some cushion covers out of a second hand duvet. I will eventually get some decent weighted fabric but in the meantime couldn’t have them upstairs in red and white now could we!! But, main thing, they are SO comfortable…

And this is the final panel of the wall hanging … Unless I get addicted to making more and then have them framed individually … Mmmmmmm so many options!

Had a little time while on holiday last week (in between packing as we are shifting house in three weeks time!).  So completed another panel for my wall hanging (which I’m now seriously thinking I might frame individually in white frames!).
