A little summer holiday project.  I love the way it isn’t perfect, the hessian style border with the stitching showing makes it simple and clean. 71199f3c-4edf-4b6a-8509-c1ee0f1136682aa916c0-a48f-4d41-9c75-30aab21640fd

I finished this cross-stitch recently and so today framed it after applying a pretty fabric and free motion appliqué around the outside…

After spending some time in the garden this morning it’s always nice to come inside and watch gardening programmes on Netflix while doing some sewing.  With Christmas coming up I’m trying to make as many Christmas presents as possible so it is enjoyable without the stress of time pressure.  I had one lovely piece of beaded fabric just enough for two purses and matched it with a soft fine weave sacking type fabric.

I have been wanting to give making a tote bag a go for a while, so this weekend was the right time to try.  I have combined the canvas type fabric (found at the Mt Maunganui Sally Army) with an opshop find tray mat with orange embroidery.  Lined with blue gingham, and the other one yellow, I love them!

Then of course I had to make a few matching purses with the cutest little brass zips found in my zip stash!

Hi! 🐝

Winter continues and the warmth of the sewing room beckons.  So I just got home from church and made this sweet love picture.  Simple and clean.

Have a nice day and I hope you are inspired to create 💕

Last day of my mini holiday (Queens Birthday weekend).  I have quite a few cross stitches that are finished waiting for me to frame, or make into cushions, book covers … who knows, and so I got started on this little one and just love it.  I think the mix of freemotion sewing, fabric and cross-stitch looks perfect.

A few weeks ago I scored three of these memorial tea towels for Horsham Downs school and I immediately set to work embellishing.  Today I finished off all the free motion sewing (quilting) and I’m pretty pleased with the result.  I will probably frame in a large frame with white edge and perhaps hang it in my laundry.  We will see.

This is my first journal and I love it!  I’ve been watching You Tube tutorials and think they are lovely.  I used the denim cut out from my Denim Delight, Decontructed Jacket, and I’ve got to say I’m now hooked on the denim with white freemotion sewing …….love!

I’m thought I was too much of an IT geek to use one as I prefer electronic medium rather than paper, but I could be tempted!  And it smells so good…

Then I decided to add a small bag in the pocket at the front…A0A23E1C-A4B4-44F9-84F7-62BA23025079D9F96779-D2CC-4CD7-A08A-EC2B1256FC84

And why not have a matching pencil case to fit a few pens in…

Oh wow!  I love this!  It turned out better than I could have imagined.  Bought the $6 denim jacked from an opportunity shop with this in mind but didn’t know what fabric I would use.  Settled on this white lacy look fabric and then ended up doing the free motion sewing around the cut out edges of the denim.    It looks pink because the dress underneath is pink, but it is actually white. Can’t wait to wear it!

So, I somehow splashed curry all over my old, cheap and fav sweatshirt.  I wasn’t ready to throw it away, but struggle to wear something with yellow stains all over it so … well …
