You know how much I love free motion sewing, and coupled with my love for coastal living, this little scene was easy to create in my mind. The great thing about this kind of art is that you are transported to the coast as you sew. It couldn’t be nicer on this cold wet summer’s day.

I had a friend come over to learn how to do freemotion sewing, and so while she was making her one I started making this one.

I made it on Friday and Saturday and sold it to another friend on Sunday so I was really chuffed.

It’s a mixture of vintage doilies, and newer fabrics. I love how with this kind of art you can just mix and match and make up abstract art and it all works no matter what you do 🤍

Below is the newer fabric I used for the houses…

I love creating ’fussy cutting’ and creating ephemera folders for junk journalling, etc. In fact I’ve said it before, but I think my real hobby is getting organised for my hobbies!

Below is my latest creation made from a small photograph album. I cut velum strips and glued them on with double-sided cellotape.

A strip of washi tape down the side helped create the inspiration for each page colour.

So many pretty vintage doilies and so much time over the holidays … and rain, lots of rain, make for a creative brain.

The making of…

This is a take on free motion sewing but using embroidery stitching and beautiful lace and embroidered doilies bought at second hand shops.

One off unique design.
Ready for framing or make it to something of your choice like a cushion or journal cover.

I loved this card {CraftersChoice ~ White Meadow} and thought I needed to make something out of it. So I landed on a simple folder.

I sewed the pockets in (yes card)

I wasn’t sure what to put in the folder, but I wanted something that complimented it. Then I came across my lace paper cut outs. Perfect.

Have a nice day!

I’ve done a Beach Life fabric art before and totally enjoyed it and felt it was time to do another. A warm but wet day in Maketu, NZ, created the perfect mood …. Oh and a day off!

The evolution…

Highlights…

I found a beautiful frame at a second hand shop on Saturday which inspired me to make this design. Made from up-cycled linen and embroidery pieced together.

I felt the Scripture “He heals, the wounds of the broken-hearted” captured the mood of the colours … soothing, calming and gentle to the soul.

I haven’t posted for ages. I’ve still been making things but you know what it’s like….time consuming! Ha!

Anyway, I made this the other day and sold it on Facebook Marketplace the day I finished making it for NZ$25. I was delighted that it went to a friend of my mum’s who was moving into a tiny house and thought it was just what she needed 💜

~ Free motion sewing “JUST LOVE” pillow ~

I have been enjoying collaging little boxes (usually from the pantry) but now I had created a situation where they were starting to annoy me. Then this morning I thought, yes, I will collage an old box and put the little boxes in the box. And here is the result.

Starting with a picture of ‘the situation’…

Finding an old box…

The initial A4 and A3 paper I stuck on is one of my own designs using domain free images found on the internet.

Then I used some beautiful Michel Design Works serviettes to pull it all together

And here is the finished result…

And then I saw a bottle in my bathroom and thought, I wonder…

It’s still a bit wet so we will see what it looks like when it dries.

Quite a good start to the day I’d say!

Now what shall I do.

Take care ~ Jo x
